Hello and welcome!
My name is Brett and I am an over 50 Beauty blogger, YouTube Channel creator, Flight Attendant, crafty chica, organizing junkie, eBay maven, and a really nice person, or at least that is what I have been told and would like to think.
Truth is, I thrive on a good goal and over the past few years, I seem to have made less of them.
But lately, there has been a fire smoldering underneath my seemingly stagnant repertoire of work, home, cook, clean, live. This year is the year of Health & Fitness.
It is the year of the closet makeover, living with less, organizing ( I am good at that!) saving more and creating in abundance. I loved being in my 20’s in the80’s, I loved my Mothering days in my 30’s and the breakout still young enough to have fun 40’s.
My 50’s, on the other hand, have been challenging. Bringing with them a new set of rules to play by and I want to take my toys and go home! I am almost 55 I can tell you I am working my way back to being the women I once was only older, wiser and more secure in my own vision of how I want and need my life to be at this stage of living.
I hope you find something of value here and I am so happy you stopped by. -Grab some a glass of wine or a cup of tea and I’ll see you in the blog.
“You can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.”
– Steve Jobs
I love this quote by Steve Jobs because he is so right. We have to trust that in all that we do we are guided to our destiny and can later look back and have an ah-ha moment.
I think when we quite our mind, move our bodies and eat the right food, we are more inclined to be able to connect those dots looking back on our successes and accomplishments and be more positive about manifesting our futures.

How It All Started:
I am a woman over a certain age, let’s say 50 (54 to be exact) who has decided once again to get serious about losing weight and getting fit. I currently work as a flight attendant, and it is a grueling physical job.
Yes, it helps to move all day in keeping healthy, but the lack of sleep part and different time zones have actually hurt my health and ability to keep my weight down. My key weight loss hormones are affected by my sleepless life.
I always had a tendency to gain weight but early on was active. I walked everywhere, embraced the aerobic phenomenon of the 80’s and so I was able to remain pretty fit and trim most of my adult life.
There were two times in my life when I gained weight and both times I lost about 5o plus pounds. I crushed it and got super fit both times. The last time I was 50 with a better shape than I had when I was 25.
The first weight gain was after a bad divorce and the second time was after I gained weight while I was on reserve flight attendant status.
When I really looked at both of the times I lost weight It really came down to eating whole foods and that caused me to naturally eat fewer calories than I was burning. The first time I used a very low carb Atkins diet and lost 60 pounds and the second time I went Vegan.
Both worked really well and both times I lost about 60 pounds.
BUT! I consistently exercised both times. I walked, ran, lifted weights, did yoga moved my body at least 6 days a week and even on my 7th day I would walk or hike, clean house dance around the living room or do some form of movement.
Some of you may not like exercise and I can relate, at 55 with an autoimmune illness that affects my feet and joints I am with you!
But honestly, it is the fitness part that is so integral because especially after the age of 50 our skin and muscles are not the same. We lose weight without it and some of our skin sags and we still will not feel or as good or look as good as we wish the without the exercise aspect.
Plus there are the longevity and heart health benefits of moving our bodies. Did you know that the telomeres on the ends of our DNA can actually grow longer and stronger (they shorten as we age) with diet and exercise?
Last month I decided to I get super serious about my desire to lose weight and decided to start my 90 Health Challenge For women over 50.
Surely I’m not a doctor or nutritionist or certified fitness trainer. But I do have some serious experience to draw from and some great tips. I know a lot of other experts out there both on the internet and YouTube that share their workouts and expertise for free.
I know what worked for me before, and I am convinced It will again. I have time and time again worked out to my favorite YouTube fitness videos to success and I have taken the time to curate special playlists from YouTube that come with the FREE 90 Day Health Challenge Guide.
I know that at this stage of my life it will be harder and I will not have the physical stamina I did at 30, but there are others who have done it my age before me and I have done it myself not too long ago.
It just requires a desire, commitment, and consistency as well as an attitude of perseverance when it gets tough or the progress slows down.
Losing weight and getting in shape is going to be TOUGH. But when we feel good about how we look on the outside, we feel good on the inside, too.
We stop wanting to hide and start daring to put ourselves out there, which gives us the confidence to do even more.
Health is the key to living longer, feeling better and looking as young as we feel inside.
FIND OUT WHAT YOUR WHY IS THEN YOU WILL SUCCEED.
For me, I realized that part of my not feeling well and not putting myself out there after the breakup of a long-term relationship then into menopause and an autoimmune illness was my use of food as a comfort mechanism when life was stressed or getting me down.
I felt like I was not the same person I used to be yet, I was I am I just needed to tweak my mindset to realize that what was missing was, is my own approval of where I am today.
It was/ is a confusing time going through menopause and redefining who I was as a woman at this stage of my life.
I needed to regroup, reprioritize and focus on what I can and could do at this new stage of my life to be me only older and wiser and a better version of myself at 54.
